Homemade Cream Soap
- 2 ounces of Stearic acid
- 7 ounces of coconut oil
- 8 ounces of meaddowfoam oil
- 2 ounces of mango butter
- 1 ounce of castor oil
- 1 tablespoon of Cosmetic Grade Borax
- 1 tablespoon of Vegetable Glycerin
- 12 ounces of water
- 2.9 ounces of Potassium Hydroxide
- 0.6 ounces of Sodium Hydroxide
- .5 ounces zinc oxide
Wear goggles and long glove rubber gloves for this one my friends - it's a must when making soap from scratch.
Oil phase: Melt the oils, butter and the stearic together very slowly over a low heat.
Water phase: Add the cosmetic grade borax to hot water and stir until it is dissolved, then add the remaining ingredients, except for the glycerin.
Before the two phases are added together, the water should reach 120ish degrees and the oils should be around 150. Combine the two mixtures while they are both hot. Stir in the vegetable glycerin.
Stir the mixture use a stick blender to speed up the process. The mixture will at first separate and then eventually come together. Then get out a hand held mixer with whip attachment and go at it until the mixture forms soft peaks - like a thick mousse.
Pour the cream soap in a lidded tupperwear container or glass bowl and let your it cure for at least 4 weeks before use.
After you let your cream soap cure you can add in your essential oils if desiered as a final step.
